The work for a Norfolk Photographer
We get advised that we need to specialise - why - well to become a Specialist is to be Very Experienced, Knowlegeable, Capable, Skilled etc etc - which is what happens when most people do a repetative thing and focus on something repeatadly. And hey I get that AND I’m trying BUT these days when I get offered work I say yes - because money is king at the moment, and as everyone knows I’m sure, it’s hard out here for Everyone.
Photography in April
Well between the odd freebe that I do for my local Rugby team ( Watton ), mainly for home matches - Oh and they are playing in a local Cup match again this weekend - Doing Property Photography, Pre-Wedding shoots for weddings happening in June - and now working with a London Artist on a project, it’s becoming a great and interesting early part of the 2024 year.

What should I be doing and is it wrong to give something back to your local community.
I believe it is absolutely the right thing to do even within a busy April for a Norfolk photographer to take opportunities to give something back - for me it’s the Rugby as I’ve already mentioned, plus the odd match at the local Hockey club AND whilst I know this weekend we have the London Marathon - I’ll be covering a marathon for a local Cancer Charity - called Littlelifts - on Sunday… Sounds like the weather is going to be kind so a few hours outside should be enjoyable with new people to meet and loads of new opportunities out there - who knows.

What new job…
Nah - just a bit of practice for some new work coming in for a London Artist, which is Product / Object type photography and very interesting and a space I’d love to move to. Product / Object photography is teaching me that whilst I think I am quite good at photographic lighting, lighting inanimate objects is more of a science and needs lots more attention that perhaps I may apply to a Portrait shoot where some photo-shopping can easiliy make a Portrait very acceptable BUT with an object that may have matt or reflective uneven surfaces it interacts with light in a much different fashion. Anyway pleased with how things are going with more to come on this.
To round things up for this update
Photography in April has re-lit my passion for getting up and getting out there - with loads of new ideas the key now is finding enough time to get them moving and delivered.

Do I need new gear yet for this new work - Absolutely NO - I have invested in the last few years in some great equipment including some of the top range of Nikon Cameras & lenses - plus Studio quality lighting and equipment from essential photo, and this should do me well over the next few years - fingers crossed - as I have plans and just need time to get them done. So yes this is a Busy April for a Norfolk Photographer and bring it on….
